A deliciously scripted film, but the thrill of the film, isn’t spine chilling.
Aamir is as usual in a stellar performance, Rani stole the show in the little scenes she was apart of, Kareena looks good and is more than just good in the film. Nawazuddin Siddique is the next big star, mark my words.
But while the beautiful performances lacing the film took it to a hiatus, the gibberish climax including the entire suspense ridiculed most ardent Aamir fans. Reema Kagti, your direction is superb, no doubt! But the plot which was masterpiece in the first two hours gets hackneyed towards the last 15 minutes.
Deserved a 4.5, but will settle for a 4 because of the somewhat ‘unexpected’ yet a little less engrossing climax.
Talaash Details
Talaash will be Aamir Khan’s next big commercial project after 3 Idiots. Although Dhobighat, directed by his wife Kiran Rao where he had a small role and Delhi Belly both were his home productions, we would see a full fledged Aamir Khan act in the film Talaash. He is playing the role of a cop and shares screen space with two of the most talented Bollywood actrsees, Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor. However being the secretive person that Aamir Khan is, and since he is one of the producers of the film, it is pretty evident that nothing about the story has yet been released in the media.
But this hush hush trade secret has an effect of its own. According to all the trade gurus of the industry, Talaash is indeed the most awaited film of the year 2012 till now, even soaring above the likes of Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath and Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger. It is indeed the most anticipated film of the time. Talaash is Reema Katgi’s second take as a director. Her first film Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Limited didn’t do very well, neither at the box office and nor with the critics. However this time it is being expected that things will turn around for her, and the film will be a blockbuster hit. Moreover the Dil Chahta Hain team comprising Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Aamir Khan are also a part of the movie, which is an added incentive both from the buyer’s and the seller’s point of view.
The film has been written by Rema Katgi and Zoya akhtar jointly, and is being made within a budget of 4o crores . However one would be rather surprised to know that the satellite rights of the movie have already been sold at a whooping amount of 40 crore, six months before the releasing date of the movie, without even a single poster coming out.
As far as the promos are concerned three different production houses were assigned the job of making the promos for the film. However sources reveal that the promos were not ready by the scheduled time. Initially, it was planned that the promos of Talaash would be realsed along with the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Don2. However, there were some problems such as the promos were not completely ready ,and that is why Aamir Khan, Reema Katgi and Ritesh Sidhwani did not mind to delay the release of the promos rather than releasing some poor quality material. Considering the perfectionist that Aamir Khan is, this is pretty normal. However Ritesh Sidhwani denies the involvement of Aamir Khan in the decision, and sights absolutely technical reasons for the delay in the release of the promos. The promos are now slated to be released with the release of Agneepath.
All in all, we can just keep our fingers crossed and hope that film succeeds in meeting the expectations of the people.
